Oral history interviews on website: 100 years

The oral history interviews, audio files/SoundCloud links and links to download transcripts, are being added to the website during early 2025. The latest interviewee is now 100!

So far just over a third have been added so far (21 February 2025).

Access the interviews via the Oral History page, and read more about them. They span 10 decades and across the Brecks and fen edge.

The interviews were done by volunteers trained in the Tales from the River project, and as well as being accessible here, will also be archived for use into the future.

They include the latest interview – with Lord Walsingham – who turned 100 today on 21 February 2025!

Here is a photo of Lord Walsingham in 1990. He still has the same keen eye and wit, and has much to say, including his memories of the lovely countryside, wildlife, and waters in the Stanford training area. He also wrote his autobiography in 2021, which can be found online, One More Onion Peeled, ISBN-13 ‏ : ‎ 978-1800314726. He donated a copy to the project.
