Over 100 people involved in or that had run the 24 projects of The Brecks Fen Edge and Rivers Landscape Partnership Scheme over the last five years came to celebrate and hear about the achievements and impact at the End of BFER Scheme Conference 30 January 2025.
We heard talks from several other projects, including the two covered on this website – Tales from the River and Healing Waters. You can download the talk, a review of both projects – slides with notes (PDF 40 pages).
Exhibitions from project partners showed information gathered and activities in the projects. Along with display panels used throughout the Tales from the River project and the Healing Waters project, there were a couple of new panels showing some historic photos at various points on maps of the Brecks. And it was another chance to show the pop-up exhibition ‘Tales from the Riverbank’.

See photos on Flickr of the displays and exhibition, the project scheme leader’s talk (with this website’s logo included on the screen), plus the Brecks themed and personalised DryRobe that was very kindly presented to me – watch out for photos of it in action on the riverside soon.
See the BFER video about the event, and read the BFER reports on it in the BFER newsletter and on the BFER website.
We also heard from the project manager about the future for Brecks activities – BFER staffing extended until October to work on getting further funding and transition to a new Brecks partnership; and a second Brecks Outdoor Festival 9-24 August 2025. Volunteers from these two projects are keen to be involved in hosting some events during this fortnight. (Watch a short film about the 2024 Brecks Outdoor Festival, including at about three minutes in the swim intro we hosted.)
